I am Mother Nature’s Maid. I am not a tree-hugger or a dirt-worshipper. I am a vegetarian, I drive a 1992 Volvo station wagon, I occasionally call myself an aspiring writer, and that’s about as hippie as I get. All this natural stuff is pretty new to me, and let me tell you – it is not easy.
My family is Baltimore-bred, but I was transplanted to Podunk, USA (aka: Hereford, MD) at a young age, so I am way more comfortable on a horse farm than a city street. I have two Golden Retrievers and a Paint horse, and I love hanging out at the barn. But when I’m not there, I want to be traveling – anywhere, anytime – just hand me a ticket, and I’m there. I also love the Beatles, and my No. 1 claim to fame is that I was once called a “proper Beatles fan” by a tourist from none other than Liverpool. I’m also a graduate of the University of Maryland – Go Terps!!
My all-natural journey began in 2012, when I gave up store-bought beauty products to use 100% natural and homemade blends for 6 months. I chronicled the whole thing here on The MNM Blog, and pretty soon I had discovered a passion I never knew I had. Today, I’m still working my way back to Dirty Hippie status, taking on all kinds of back-to-nature projects – from homemade make-up all the way to mindfulness – to see if I can hack it in Mother Nature’s world. It’s a sweaty, greasy job, but somebody’s got to do it. (Actually, nobody’s got to do it, but I do it anyway.)
